Rush

FALL 2010 RUSH

As a newly established chapter at The University of Illinois at Chicago, we are excited to have the opportunity to bring the values that Kappa Pi Beta stands for on the campus of UIC. As brothers of Kappa Pi Beta, we strive to uphold our virtues of respect and discipline – while maintaining a high academic standard. Our goal is to help the community through service, and spread Asian Awareness – while instilling leadership and gentlemen values.

The purpose of this Asian-Interest fraternity organization is to promote: Philanthropy/Community Service, Asian and cultural awareness, Leadership, Etiquette, Academic Excellence, and BROTHERHOOD. We are comprised of dedicated and motivated gentlemen, regardless of what letters we wear, what organizations we are part of, and their background – we set the example that ‘labels’ mean nothing and that unity is the ultimate beginning of brotherhood.

Although Kappa Pi Beta is an Asian Interest Fraternity, we have brothers who hail from all different backgrounds, ethnicity and national origins. It is a strong policy of Kappa Pi Beta that all membership-related decisions are made without any regard to race, age, sexual preference, or religion.

What is rush?

Rush is a period in which individuals explore their Greek options. Rush allows potential brothers to examine how the Active Brothers interact amongst themselves and other organizations. Also rush time allows rushes to inquire about the organization: Who we are, what we do, ect. During rush, fraternities and sororities host a number of free events on and around campus that are free and open to anyone who is interested in potentially joining the organization or just curious about what Greek life is about.

Why Rush KPiB?

Kappa Pi Beta Incorporated is a one of a kind organization. Brotherhood in our fraternity means you are never alone. We also believe that unity is the beginning of brotherhood therefore we strive to extend our services to any other organizations. Also we devote ourselves to serving the community. As Gentleman it is our resolve to break away from the stereotypes of the typical Asian Fraternity: we promote academic excellence, create events to educate the community, and commit ourselves to reinforcing the bonds that we have as brothers.

Do I have to be Asian to join?

No, Kappa Pi Beta Fraternity Incorporated is an Asian Interest Fraternity, meaning our interest is supporting our Asian community as it grows. Our policy is to give everyone a chance regardless of race, age, sexual preference, creed or religion!

Do you haze?

Kappa Pi Beta Incorporated has a strong no hazing policy. Furthermore anything that is done during the pledging process is of your own free will, and  there is always a open door if the process is not for you at anytime. Once again we strive to stay away from the typical stereotypes about fraternities such as drinking, hazing, partying, and poor academics.

I heard you have to have a lot of money to be in a fraternity, is that true?

No, the major amount of our money is derived from fund raising events. Unlike typical fraternities we will not neglect or turn away a brother or potential brother based on financial status.

Cool, this sounds pretty good, where do I sign up?

Well you dont really sign up.  Main thing is to come to the rush events and talk to the brothers.  We are sure this little FAQ section did not answer all your questions.  The only way to really get a feel for an organization is to meet the people and ask them more questions.  A good idea actually is to also go and check out the other fraternities on campus.  Each fraternity has something to offer, and you might feel a better connection to some more than others.  So if you are interested in being in a fraternity, go out there during rush week, maybe we might even see you at one of our events!
